How Your Brain Works

Postby janark on Fri Oct 12, 2007 6:26 am

Found a very neet thingy this morning:

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/s ... 95,00.html

Have a look and find out if you're using your left or your right brain.

P.S. Some people claim that they can change the direction by will. However, I can see the dancer turning only clockwise, even after concentrating for 5 minutes.

I'm confused... How can anyone see her turning anti-clockwise if I see her turning only clockwise? :wacko:

Yep, me too. But I can assure you some people actually see her turning counter-clockwise and some see her turning in both ways.

Btw. While doing a little research on the thingy, I discovered a nice site offering a bunch of other optical illusions:
http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/ - few are boring but many are indeed really cool!

Here's another cool one. Try going row by row, saying (or trying to say) the colour, not the word. I was struggling for at least two minutes before I could complete it.

I was looking at the picture for about 5 minutes and then just gave up... can't make her turn counter-clockwise... :(

Now that's one difficult task to complete. I've struggled at least the first two times...
Then you manege to shut down some of your brain and look only at the colors :)

I did it! I made her turn counter-clockwise !!!! :)

Basically, try doing those three things at the same time and you should be able to see her moving counter-clockwise:
1. stare (and I mean STARE) at her feet, not her body;
2. very quickly blink your eyes, observing the direction of movement after each 10 or so blinks;
3. force the fact, that she's supposed to move counter-clockwise, into your head.

If you get over the first barrier (getting her to move in the other direction for the first time), it's actually rather easy later on.

She is turning counter clockwise :) but I found a much easier way (at least I think so), but I won't post it yet... I think it should be fun for others to try it first :)

I saw the one direction when I opened website.
Then I read the text. Tried to chande direction, and dancer started to go opposite. And then I changed again.
So fun :D

Yep - just watch the dancing chick while you're playing poker and based on the girl's dancing direction you'll always know which side of the brain you're using, lol.

EDIT: then, add this information to your Poker Tracker database to find out which side of your brain makes the profitable moves and which side makes the sucker-calls :)

EDIT 2: .. and then have some fine doctors remove the side that tends to make bad calls. amen.
