Fixed Games

Postby KACKIS on Tue Sep 18, 2007 11:40 pm

Have You ever heard about fixed games in sports?

There were a lot of talks about Lithuanian football... about Russian as well :) and ice-hockey too...
And this summer Lithuanian Youth team was suspected as well.
I mean the case of game against Serbia and "right result for both teams" but not for Spain.
Lithuania couldn't win by 5 or more points. But everything was more than OK, and Lithuania was leading by 8 points...

Look last seconds. And say what You think... ;)

That'a a very, very interesting situation. The last 4 points were scored so easilly by Serbia. And the last Lithuanian mistake where the player just throws the ball to his opponent looks very very suspicious as well... <_< No wender, Spain filed this situation to FIBA

I'm Lithuanian but I hate unfair play!
And this case doesn't show the best about Lithuanian basketball. It's really awful situation!
We should admit that LTU forgot FairPlay principles.

It wasn't proved yet, so we can't say that it definitely happened. Maybe it was just an accident and a dumb pass

:D OK, let's say it was dumb pass.
But watch again this movie and pay attention on last attack of Serbia... and look at our defense.
Could You explain why Lithuania made a lot of space?.. why LTU used "pressure" in the center and left free player in the key?..
Look how our player is defending! He doesn't want anybody to disturb Serbian attack! It so obvious that Lithuania wanted Serbia to score these points.
Dumb pass to the player near the line? Why nobody ran to opponents side? Why our player waited for Serbian?.. and didn't pass earlier.
"Accident"... I would like to kick balls "accidentally" to all bastards who ruin sports!

Maybe we was just expecting an awesome dunk and didn't want to make a foul. He was just afraid of a flagrant foul for his bad play in this situation. I'm afraid you didn't see when LTU was winning by 4 points ~30 sec to play and Songaila made a pretty rude defensive foul. The referees gave him a flagrant foul for that situation. Maybe this guy was afraid of that... And he knew that 8 points is pretty safe at that moment even it they score 2 (better than 2 points plus a foul or two points + flagrant foul ;)

 You're crazy, man ;)
It's so obvious that he was simulating and wanted Serbian guy to score points. Who is defending 3 meters from player? In key!
I'm sure that it was fixed game. I was 50/50 about this when I did hear about this. Yesterday I saw this video. And now I'm 99% sure that it was fixed!
You don't analyze whole situation as I asked...

What about defense from middle of court?.. and so soft <_< What for?
A lot of space for Serbian players. Why?
Player didn't try to block Serbian player. At least hands should be in the air. Why not?
Trying to give a ball to the nearest player... Why? Why nobody went to Serbian side for a long ball?
Do You really think that International team player can't pass good?

P.S. This championships were before EuroBasket 2007... so remark about Songaila's foul has nothing to do there... and these young guys don't think at all

Well, yes it might have been fixed, but:

1) The player might've let the serbian score points easily, because he didn't want to faul - we're in the lead, why create some troubles by fauling him?
2) The pass was pretty dumb, er...

But, hey, it's not our fault so much depends on the score, we won the match, and by making a stupid mistake we eliminated the championship's favorite as well, it's a gap in the structure if you ask me.
