Any Blackjack Tips?

Slots Machines, Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, Baccarat etc.

I'm more of a poker player myself, but lately I've had to play a few hands of BlackJack to qualify for a bonus. Unfortunately, I didn't do particularly well - In fact, I've never seen a bonus shrink so fast in all my life.

Seemingly no matter what I did, the dealer had a better hand - Surely the statistics don't favour that? Whether I stuck, hit or even split I'd either bust or come up short.

Anyone got any tips? I'm not wanting to become a BlackJack expert, just able to minimise my losses a little so I've still got something left of my free bonuses by the time I make it to the poker tables.

Try to use this basic strategy , it might help (it did for me). And if you want more just google it :)

Blackjack (also known as 21) is one of the most popular casino card games in the world. Much of blackjack's popularity is due to the mix of chance with elements of skill, and the publicity that surrounds card counting (keeping track of which cards have been played since the last shuffle). Blackjack's precursor was vingt-et-un ("twenty-one"), which originated in French casinos around 1700, and did not offer the 3:2 bonus for a two-card 21.

When 21 was first introduced in the United States it was not very popular, so gambling houses tried offering various bonus payouts to get the players to the tables. One such bonus was a 10-to-1 payout if the player's hand consisted of the ace of spades and a black Jack (either the Jack of clubs or the Jack of spades). This hand was called a "blackjack" and the name stuck to the game even though the bonus payout was soon abolished. As the game is currently played, a "blackjack" may not necessarily contain a jack or any black cards at all.

Basic strategy

Because blackjack has an element of player choice, players can reduce casino advantage to less than 1% by playing optimally. The complete set of optimal plays is known as basic strategy. There are slight variations depending on the house rules and number of decks.

The above is a basic strategy table for 3 or more decks, dealer stands on soft 17, double on any 2 cards, double after split allowed, dealer peeks for blackjack, and blackjack pays 3:2. Key:

Ds = Double (if not allowed then stand)
SP = Split
SU = Surrender (if not allowed, then hit)

Use a card-counting technique. This is the best way to win. It isn’t difficult to understand, but it takes time to perfect. Operated well, card counting reverses the odds. Instead of the odds favouring the casino by about 2% even for a good basic strategy player, a card counter turns the odds to perhaps 2% in his favour. However, for those who play in high-street casinos, be warned: the better chance of success via card counting comes with a severe risk of being banned and facing a scary session with the gorillas below stairs. Secret #1: Always split a pair of eights and always split a pair of aces. Always!

Secret #2: Never buy insurance. Never!

Secret #3: Always hit on 12,13,14,15 and 16 when dealer has 10, jack, queen, king and ace. Always!

Secret #4: Never split a pair of tens or jacks or kings or queens. Never!

Secret #5: Always double-down on 9, 10 and eleven unless dealer has the same as you or better. Always!

Always use basic strategy. Your goal is to find an enjoyable, relaxing, fast-paced table where you can do your thing with minimal interference and interruption. Drunk players are distracting. Slow players limit the amount of money you can win per hour. Mean-spirited dealers just bring your whole mood and vibe down, which can interfere with your ability to relax and concentrate.
